Soprano Rebecca Goulden grew up in Wigan and began singing as a chorister at her local parish church. She graduated with an honours degree from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and completed her Masters Degree at the Royal Academy of Music Opera School with distinction. During her time at the RAO Rebecca was a Susan Chilcott Scholar and Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist. 

 

Since then Rebecca has performed Marguerite in Faust in a UK tour for Swansea City Opera, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro for both Heritage Opera and Opera Vera, Sirene (cover) in Rinaldo for the Glyndebourne Festival and Volpino in Haydn’s The Apothecary for Bampton Classical Opera. In 2012 she made her German House Debut as Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw for Opera Köln. 

 

Her most performed and possibly favourite role is Mimi in La Boheme, which she has performed for The Wexford Festival Opera, Swansea City Opera, Vivo D’arte and The ROH re-imagined. 

On the concert platform she has performed the works of Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Tippett, Orff and Verdi. Rebecca made her French debut in 2010 as the Soprano soloist in Mauricio Wainrot’s ‘Le Messie’ for L’Opéra National de Bordeaux, which was televised for Mezzo TV.

 
The 2020/21 season includes the role debut of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni for The Merry Opera Company and Brahms Requiem for The Hayfield Singers. 

 

Rebecca currently studies with Mary Plazas. When she isn’t performing Rebecca can be found in London with her husband, daughter and Coco the cat.
